∙ 9y agoYou can skip your period right at the first cycle of NuvaRing if you like. Just remember that you may experience bleeding between periods if you do so.

the same thing just happened to me, and I was really upset but I called organon, they said its perfectly normal, especially if i started using nuvaring recently.

If you start using NuvaRing on day one of your period, you will be instantly protected because you are not ovulating. If you wait until days 2 - 5, you could not be protected if you have already started to ovulate.

You should start using your ring for the first time after your period has stopped. Then begin using your timer to remove on the correct day and replace 7 days later. If used properly you should never have any problems. I was on the ring for 6 + years and had sex as soon as the same day I put it in and never had a question about pregnancy. I fully trust the ring as my method of BC.
