What is the difference prescription Ibuprofen and store bought Ibuprofen?

From my own experience there must be a difference in the coating. I can easily stomach 4 over the counter ibuprofin 3times daily (and have for 20 yrs.) which = the same as 1 800mg. prescription tablet 3times daily. I can not stomach the prescription at all. Taking 2 400mg. prescription ibuprofin also went down fine. but the prescription can cost much more than the Walmart version-$8 or less for 500 tablets.

Store bought Ibuprofen goes up to i think its 500mg per tablet at most

some stores its only 250mg though Prescription Ibuprofen can go as high as the doctor believes you need to take

it can be anything from 50mg - 150mg for children to about 750mg (i think! it might go higher!) for adults.

The only difference is the doses. Prescription ibuprofin pills are massive -- 800, even 1000mgs each. Regular over-the-counter ibuprofin pills are 200mgs. If you are prescribed 1000mgs of ibuprofin a day, you can just take 5 of the over-the-counter, 200mg pills instead (which will save you a lot of money, as prescription ibuprofin is a lot more expensive).
