Prescription painkillers such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, and codeine are opiates and are readily detected using urine tests for opiates. In general, prescription painkillers such as the ones given for severe Back pain are opiates. There are a large variety of these pills and they are sold under a large number of names. In general, a positive urine test for opiates would not be a problem on a typical (e.g. pre-employment) drug screen as long as you are able to provide proof that you're legitimately prescribed the medicine by your doctor.

Hydrocodone(Vicodin), Oxycodone(Percocets, Roxicodone, OxyIR), Oxycontin, Morphine, Codeine, Hydromorphone(Dilaudids), Heroin, and Darvocets. That's all I can think of right now, if anyone else can think of any others, feel free to add. Tramadol, Ultram, and Ultracets, pain killers which are also available by prescription only, but they are not considered opiates, however they will more than likely still show up in a drug test, depending on how long ago you've taken any of the drugs listed above.

DXM (in cough syrups) can test positive for opiates. A fun way to attempt to explain an opiate-positive result is to say you had a really bad cold. Generally, however, a positive test will be perceived as actual hard opiate use. And codeine, in Canada, will obviously create a positive result.
