Christopher Columbus completed four voyages to the Americas between 1492 and 1504. His first voyage, in 1492, led to the discovery of the New World. Subsequent voyages allowed him to explore and establish settlements in various regions of the Caribbean and Central America. Columbus's voyages had a significant impact on European exploration and colonization of the Americas.

There were a number of diseases that followed Spanish colonization of the Americas, one of the most devastating of which was small pox. Whether this came with Columbus or later is not known. Many Europeans came to the Americas in search of fame and fortune.
That's debatable. Many other people had traveled to the Americas before Columbus, including Leif Erikson. On the other hand, among the "civilized" world (e.g. Mainland Europe) had very little idea of the New World's existence. Though Amerigo Vespuccie, whom Americas is named after, had maps of the area before Columbus. To be fair though, he was the one who made knowledge of the New World common and widespread. But a "discovery"? Probably not.
Christopher Columbus sailed west when many believed he would fall off the earth. He discovered the Americas and made Spain very powerful. Many valuable plants were discovered in the New World and brought back to Europe.
