M-1 Garand semi-automatic rifle; caliber 30-06 (30 caliber, adapted by the US Army in 1906). The United States military (Army, Navy, Air Corps, Marines, Coast Guard), was the ONLY force in WW2 armed with semi-automatic rifles for each and every fighting man. Everyone else, both friend and foe alike, were armed with bolt action rifles.
