major wars fought by U.S.
In the 1700s, wars were typically fought using armies that consisted of infantry, cavalry, and artillery. Infantry soldiers were the backbone of the army and fought on foot with muskets. Cavalry soldiers fought on horseback and were typically used for reconnaissance and charges. Artillery was used to bombard enemy positions with cannons. Battles were fought in open fields or fortified positions, and strategies such as flanking, sieges, and frontal assaults were commonly employed.
i beleive it was the war of 1812. and the vietnam war.
One reason was nuclear weapons, the other was a war without qaurtier
The US VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) was established in 1899 by US Veterans of the Spanish-American War of 1898. The Spanish-American War of 1898 was the FIRST US war fought on foreign soil. Previous US wars had been fought on the North American Continent. The VFW is our "Oldest" existing Veterans Organization. GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was our oldest veteran group, but died out when the last US Civil War Veteran died in the 20th Century. Korea is a foreign country. Therefore, it was a foreign war. US veterans of the Korean War can join the VFW. The last DECLARED WAR by the United States of America, WAS WORLD WAR TWO. The dawn of the ATOMIC AGE in August of 1945 has resulted in NO MORE DECLARED WARS; As a rule, declared wars USED to be total wars, and total wars can NO LONGER BE FOUGHT without risking "mutually assured destruction" by the use of nuclear weapons. Therefore, atomic age wars fought during the "Cold War" had to be fought as "Limited Wars" CONVENTIONAL weapons only; no nuclear weapons.
Every war that the US has fought except WW2 were fought entirely without using any nuclear weapons.
Total war is all out war; using all weapons available. The Korean War and Vietnam Wars were not total wars; they were LIMITED wars...limited to non-nuclear conventional weapons. Total wars can no longer be fought in this age of atomic weapons, without risking "mutually assured destruction."
Wars fought by industrial nations (world powers/civilized nations/etc. etc.) after 1945 cannot be full fledged all out wars (more simply referred to as "total wars"). Because of MAD, mutually assured destruction from atomic weapons. Wars fought prior to 1945 (prior to the invention of nuclear weapons) could be fought as total wars. Total War=Anything goes
That in the atomic age (atomic weapons) only limited wars can be fought. Nuclear weapons would mean total war.
The advent (arrival) of nuclear weapons in 1945 (Hiroshima & Nagasaki) negated (nullified or invalidated) declared total wars. No longer could wars be fought with ALL available weapons (e.g. atomic bombs) without the risk of "mutually assured destruction." Consequently, only wars "Limited" to the use of conventional (non-atomic) weapons would or could be used.
Because of nuclear weapons, only "limited wars" could be fought; limited to conventional non-atomic weapons. WW2 was the US's last declared war; and atomic weapons did NOT exist when that war was declared. A declaration of war implies TOTAL war; which uses ALL available weapons to win! Total declared wars cannot be fought in the atomic age, without risking "mutually assured destruction." Hence, the cold war; a military stand-off between two sets of nuclear armed nations.
Presidents (Commander in Chiefs) now knew they could NO LONGER declare TOTAL WARS; in the age of nuclear weapons, wars had to be fought as LIMITED WARS...limited to "non-nuclear weapons." Such as Korea & Vietnam...to stem the tide of communism.
they fought with swords and other weapons they fought with swords and other weapons they fought with swords and other weapons
The Atomic Age created the cold war. With nuclear weapons, total wars (such as WW2) could no longer be fought. Only limited wars such as the Korean War and Vietnam Wars could be fought. Limited to only CONVENTIONAL weapons (Non-nuclear).
Yes there can be peace without religion. Too many wars have been fought because of religion.
Fight wars without the use of nuclear weapons; limited wars.
No wars were fought in Utah in 1860.
