He did NOT save Jamestown. He was only there a very few months and he lied about his contribution to the settlement in a book he wrote several years later. He also made up the story about Pocahontas and she died young so couldn't refute his story. The man who did save Jamestown was the husband of Pocahontas and gave tobacco seeds to the colony. That was John Rolfe.
The Indians thought that the English people were invading their rightful land. The Indians we scared of them because of their guns and their other methods of slaughter. With that, The English were cutting down trees and the Indian people didn't appreciate that very much. Remember, it's better to call Indians 'Native Americans' so we don't get it mixed up with people from India (:Hope this helped

the indians
Columbus called them indians because he thought he was in India.
Previous contact with Europeans caused a great plague. The ship ratline blocks with the three holes to the Natives were thought to be human skulls. So the Natives at first feared the Pilgrims as a Great Evil, People of Mitchimanitou, Devil. It was only after the Natives were invited to come and go from the fort did they learn otherwise and went to war, because of stupid misunderstandings, false pride, greed and prejudice..
When Christopher Columbus landed in America he thought he was in India so he called the people Indians.
