I don't know if the entire battalion received the Combat Action Ribbon but I do know that H Co (redesignated L Co) did receive the CAR. Most members of the battalion also received their Combat Action Ribbon during Operation Iraqi Freedom I. They battalion has since returned to Iraq in September/October of 2007. All but a handful (those few who remained behind at Camp 15) of Marines in 3/23 received the Combat Action Ribbon for Desert Storm. The Combat Action Ribbon is a personel award, not a unit award. A marine or sailor with the btln may have received it, but it's not given out to a entire btln.
no you can not.... per marine corp and anvy guidlines you are only alloted one combat action ribbon...one you have earned one you can not earn another....check your uniform regulations...the combat actikon ribbon has no autorized devices
Regulations change. During the Vietnam War, the US Army Bronze Star could be awarded for MERITORIUS Achievement or Heroism. If for heroism, the Bronze Star ribbon portion had a letter "V" attached, denoting "Valor."
AnswerA battle star indicates that the recipient participated in a particular campaign. First one must determine the campaign ribbon that the star(s) are on, to then determine which campaign(s) the recipient participated in. It also helps to have the numerical designation of the unit that the recipient was assigned to. AnswerThe US Army also used Battle Clasps, with a specific title, like Army of Occupation Clasp, Good Conduct Clasp, etc. The stars indicated on a particular Army medal would be indicative of more than one combat engagement within the same theater of operations. Example: two bronze stars on an European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal for Army service, would show that THREE combat actions were attributable to that person within that theater (European-African) of operation. The Medal or ribbon itself is action one, and each star indicates a separate action, for a total of three combat actions.

No, they did not participate in surface or ground combat. Being attacked by scud missles did not count.
Combat Action Badge was created on 2005-05-02.
No specific listing of that sort exists.
No. They would receive a Combat Action Ribbon. If ever they transferred to the Army, then they'd be eligible to wear the CIB or CAB in lieu of their Combat Action Ribbon.
Blue towards the heart.
Whatever badge/ribbon you are awarded, you rate to wear it, no matter what branch of service you are in.
