For the most part, yes, the slaves did get good food. Domestic slaves usually ate the same as their owners. In some cases it may not have been a lot of food, but what they were given was generally filling and nutritious. Much of the slaves' diets depended upon their owners. There are stories of certain wealthy men giving diners and serving the guests of honor good wine and food while the inferior guests were served the cheap stuff. In a case like this, the slaves would more than likely be given nothing but leftovers of the cheap stuff.

What was daily life like for slaves in the colonies?

What I think about people being enslaved  in Louisiana is that it was horrible for Slaves that worked in Louisiana because they had to work and they were not paid. It was a good way for the captors to make money. The planters of Louisiana are greatly exercised concerning the continual escapes of their slaves and have held an important meeting at New Orleans about the labor question. After much angry talk and a good deal of abuse of the Government, of which they are "registered enemies," they seem to have agreed at last to pay their slaves wages. That's a sentence where they talked about how slaves were being paid wages Most masters were not good people they enslaved people. Even though Slaves got paid they did not get to live a good life as other people got too. I know slavery was bad because It's not right for people to be enslaved and slaves were crucially beaten and they were not treated right.

Did slaves have to be slaves forever?

The answer is dependent on the culture and time period. Some slaves were kept for a given length of time, and some were slaves for life. Even still, death brought an end to one's slavery, so it did not last forever.

Who are the good guys and the bad guys of the somali civil war?

The Rebels were fighting for freedom of the slaves and the Yankees were fighting for their right to keep their slaves. In all fairness even some of the Rebels had slaves but they were good to them and treated them like family and didn't beat them like some of the Yankees did.

Was it likely that slaves were atheist due to treatment?

Not likely, the easiest way to control slaves would be to instill religion into them. They would then put up with their lot as the bible mentions slaves a number of times. This is especially true if the religion instilled in slaves promised a "better life" and a "heavenly reward" if they were "good." In this case good meant being good slaves, obeying the master, working hard, not complaining, not running away.
