Less than 1% of the Japanese population is Christian.

While Japanese tend to be fond of imported holidays such as Valentine's Day or Christmas, Easter is different. Christmas is more of a romantic date night that has been commercialized and sold to the consumer that way. (Rather than the religious observance of Jesus Christ birth.)

It is difficult however to commercialize and make romantic the notion of a violent death and a resurrected life.

Because Easter is the celebration of Jesus Christ paying the penalty for the sin of mankind and overcoming death, Easter can exist wherever the Christian exist.
