One way prohibition came to be viewed as a problem rather than a solution was the fact that people then started making their own illegal alcohol. Many Federal agents were needed to search out and destroy these distilleries or "stills".

How might life in the 1920s have been different without Prohibition?

Honestly, Prohibition was quite ineffective in its cause, in fact it did the opposite of what the Temperance Crusaders hoped for (believing it would protect families, women, and children from the effects of alcohol abuse). The 18th Amendment was ratified and in place to eliminate the sale and use of (drinking) alcohol. However, Prohibition didn't even come close to doing so. Instead, organized crime (robbery, bootlegging, murder, etc.) increased due to the outlawing of alcohol. Not to mention that increased efforts to enforce Prohibition simply resulted in the government spending more money, rather than less. The economic cost of Prohibition became especially pronounced during the Great Depression, and eventually in 1933 state conventions ratified the twenty first (21st) amendment which repealed the prohibition of alcohol. Therefore, the only thing that would have been different without prohibition would be less organized crime and more money in the government.

Why did America turn to prohibition in 1920s?

The Temperance Movement was focussed on a number of things. The primary factor was the protection of the family. Men spent their spare time in saloons instead of looking after their families. Money was spent in the saloons instead of being used to feed and clothe the children and wifes. Diseases were being spread by the prostitutes that frequented the saloons. All of these had factors that influenced the passing of the Prohibition Amendment. All of these A+

What amendment reversed the 18th amendment of prohibition?

Congress formally proposed the repeal of Prohibition on February 20, 1933. To date, the Twenty-first is the only amendment ratified by conventions held in the several states, rather than being ratified by the state legislatures. Edward Schoeneck (the Lt. Governor of New York 1915-1918 and Mayor of Syracuse, NY 1913-1915) also played an important role in the ratification of the 21st amendment.

The real mean of You're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem.?

Basically, it refers to character disorder, where a person blames everything and everybody else for a problem rather than take some of the responsibility themselves. So if we accept some of the responsibility for the problem, we are part of the solution. If each of us did this more, the problem would be eradicated.

The x/y problem refers to when someone asks for help with a specific solution (x) rather than explaining the underlying issue (y).
