The connection between Toussaint L' Ouverture and the Louisiana Purchase?

The success of the Slave Revolt in Haiti soured Napoleon's interest in a New World Empire and besides he needed cash to continue his war in Europe.

What kind of quotes did Toussaint L' Ouverture have?

"I was born a slave, but nature gave me a soul of a free man….""In overthrowing me, you have done no more than cut down the trunk of the tree of the black liberty in St-Domingue-it will spring back form the roots, for they are numerous and deep.Toussaint L' Ouverture"My decision to destroy the authority of the blacks in Saint Domingue (Haiti) is not so much based on considerations of commerce and money, as on the need to block for ever the march of the blacks in the world.""In overthrowing me, you have done no more than cut down the trunk of the tree of the black liberty in St-Domingue-it will spring back form the roots, for they are numerous and deep."The second quote needs to be properly attributed to Napoleon. It is just left there as if it is something Toussaint said. Is this site trying intentionally to obfuscate the history of Haiti? ---rashard zanders@gmx.com

Why were Simon bolivar Jose de san martin and toussaint l ouverture important individuals in latin American historys?

Well, there are many reasons that these three men, Toussaint L'Ouverture, Simon Bolivar, and Miguel Hidalgo, were very important to the Latin American Independence Movement. Although, I will sum it up so you won't spend hours reading this:Freeing Latin America has involed many people. It was a long and hard struggle. Though, many failed, many still ended up succeeding. Toussaint L'Overture tried to free Haiti from France (failed but Haiti did still end up getting their independence), Simon Bolivar tried to free multiple countries, such as Venezuela (succeeded plenty), and last but not least Miguel Hidalgotried to give Mexico's independence for Spain (failed).
