You do not have to prove you are nota witch. Others have to prove that you are a witch. Even if you are a witch, or Wicca, there is nothing wrong with that (in the US).

Were the Salem witch trials scary?

The Salem witch trials were very scary, 'cause you didn't know what was to happen or if you could prove your innocence and be set free.

How did people 'prove' that you were a witch back in the time?

Basically, by killing them. One test they used to determine wether someone was a witch or not was to tie up the accused person to a chair, and throw them into a body of water. If the person was a witch, they would free themselves and escape death. If not (which was invariably the case), they would drown. Most tests were like this; if they're a witch, they'll survive this for sure death sentence; if not, they're not a witch and they'll die. EDIT: There was no way to prove an accused witch's innocence in Salem. Witch tests like those detailed above were considered barbaric and the evidence of witchcraft and nonexistance of such were used to decide by the judges to decide on a verdict.

How do you burn a witch?

In medieval times, witchcraft was one of the most serious crimes. For example, lets say some woman was accused of being a witch. She would have to go through Trial By Ordeal, to prove if she was or was not a witch. If she was proved to not be a witch then she would be released but if she was a witch, then she would be hanged or burnt at the cross. In some cases, the body would be cut up and each piece buried in different parts of the country.Trial By Ordeal.Trial by Ordeal included the two most popular ways of torture; Trial by Water and Trial By Fire. Trial By Water was when a rope was tied around the accused victim and then the victim was thrown into a lake or stream. If the person sunk then he/she was innocent. But if they floated then they were a witch. Trial By Fire was when the accused's hand was pushed into fire or hot oil then locked in a dungeon for three days. If the blisters were infected then they were a witch.

How did Salem Witch Trials reflect tensions in colonial societies?

People, mainly the poor, were accusing others, mainly the rich, of witchcraft activities. There was little way the victims could prove their innocence and were hung for no reason. This is an example of scapegoating where one accuses another because, in colonial society, there was no outlet for emotions so they expressed their emotions through anger, vengeance and so on. The Salem Witch Trials is an example of this.

Is witch trial the same meaning as witch hunt?

yes

How do you prove people are witches?

How do you prove people are Christians? Do they have to go to church every sunday? Do they have to read their bible regularly? You can no more "prove" that I am a Witch or a Christian unless you observe me, get to know me, and find out what my beliefs and customs are. If you did this, then you would know that I am a Witch and not a Christian... but the question is why do you have to "prove" anything?

What tests were given to prove someone was a witch?

How did they try to prove that they were witches?

What were witch trials like during colonial times?

witch trials were very stressful to those who were accused and the room that the trials were held in were full of angry people and the magistrates had to ask questions to prove the accused guilty and also there were witnesses that told of bad things the witch or wizard did and also some times there were afflicted people that claimed they were under a spell by the witch. The atmosphere was very solemn but at the same time full of rage

They didn't if you were charged you were guilty. The Trial was a farce and the only way to not be declared guilty was to refuse to go to trial.
