he planed to sail west from euro to get to the far east
Christopher Columbus belied the sine the earth was round, ( as did many other people ) he could sail west from Spain and reach the riches of India and East Asia. He did not realize how large the earth was, so he was betting on it being smaller and thus a westward route could solve the long distance required of ships to sail around Africa to reach India. As it turned out, of course, the globe was much larger than he expected and he was the leader of others of "discovering" the Western Hemisphere.
Queen Isabella had a committee of men to research Christopher Columbus's plan to sail west to get to China. The committee was made up of people who specialized in navigation and logistics.
Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy. He grew up in a seafaring environment, which sparked his interest in exploration and navigation. Columbus later moved to Portugal, where he gained experience and support for his ambitious plan to find a westward route to Asia. His voyages, sponsored by Spain, ultimately led to the European discovery of the Americas in 1492.
Portugal did not support Christopher Columbus' plan to reach Asia by sailing westward, as they believed his calculations were incorrect and that he would not be able to cross the Atlantic Ocean successfully.
his original plan was to find asia for the so called gold streets and treasure
Ferdinand Magellan Ferdinand Magellan's expedition of 1519-1522 became the first expedition sailing west from Europe to Asia, and the first to cross the Pacific. It also completed the first circumnavigation of the earth. The first to circumnavigate the globe, which Drake also did, was the Magellan expedition. Magellan
