Clovis furthered Catholicism more than Christianity as such. Arian Christians were the overwhelming majority of Christians in Gaul. The Catholics were a small minority. The wife of Clovis was a Catholic and tried to convert him from his paganism to Catholicism, but he resisted. It is thought that in the end he converted to distinguish himself from the other Germanic kings who were Arians. The Burgundians of eastern Gaul, the Visigoths of south-western Gaul, Spain and Portugal and the Vandals of north-western Africa were Arians. Only the Alemanni of southern Germany were pagans, even though it seems that the influence of Arianism did reached them.
With Clovis expanding into southern Germany and into southern France, the influence of Catholicism soon spread to these areas.
As humans, when we read of 4500 strong Saxon leaders being killed if they did not convert to Christianity, it tends to make us do so in order to survive as Charlemagne was prominently in charge of the lands. It is currently used by ISIS/ISIL terrorist in their new conquered lands in Iraq and Syria - for the time being.
Alexander the great cried after he conquered all lands because there was not any more land to conquer.
Before his wife Clothide convinced him to convert to Catholicism, the Germans were predominantly Arian - another form of Christianity not believing in the trinity. After his conversion, he joined together with the then Pope until his death. Many converted to Catholicism. The Pope removed the last of Clovis' dynasty and then put Pepin the Short in charge of the Franks. Eventually, Charlemagne would take over (800 AD) and solidify the Catholic influence in the Frankish lands.
In my opinion, it didn't. Rome developed fear in the lands it conquered.
Clovis was not from ancient Rome. He was a Frank. He became the first king of the Franks and he united them under his rule. He expanded his kingdom from Holland, Belgium, northern France and central Germany. He conquered Gaul (apart from its southeast) taking its central area from a Roman rump state (the Domain of Soissons), the southwest from the Visigoths and the east form the Burgundians. He conquered the lands in Alemanni in southern Germany, Switzerland and north-eastern France (Alsace and Lorraine). He conquered the lands of the Thuringians in part of central Germany and Bohemia (Czech Republic). He converted from paganism to Catholicism.

Charlemagne helped spread Christianity throughout the Frankish Empire and the lands he conquered. He spread Christianity through both peaceful conversion efforts and military conquests.
The Incas believed that the lands conquered by a Sapa Inca were still inherently sacred and connected to the spiritual world. They viewed these conquered territories as extensions of their own and believed in harmonizing both the conquered and Inca lands through rituals and ceremonies.
