Harriet Tubman lived nearly half a century after the civil war and spent her time helping a biographer publish her life story. She also spoke for the rights of woman and African Americans, helping organize the AME which mean - (African Methodist Episcopal) Church. She also set up homes for the elderly African Americans. She fought for a military pension as well but was only able to win a widow's pension. She tried to help people with many laws to fight for the African Americans.
