The emigrants from the United States (Specifically Southern) were pro-slavery which upset the young Mexican government making them enforce proper laws into the Texans sparking a revolution which then later had the Texans break away. The American Government, most notably James K. Polk wanting to annex it sent troops there even though Mexico threatened with a war declaration if they set a foot on Texan soil.
