How did World War 2 change life for women in America?

Since many men left their jobs to help fight for America, many occupations became empty. Eventually, women started getting jobs and working in offices to take the place of the men, and bankruptcy & The Great Depression ended.

The large number of men that were taken away to fight in Europe left an equally large number of unfilled jobs. Then the US was needing to produce even more volume than before, so you had a need for more workers. Women that had not worked in manufacturing, flying, driving, management - suddenly had the opportunity to do so. After 'filling in' for four years, they were not interested in going back to the more limited choices of 'acceptable women's jobs' and were able to demand, and get, a more equal footing in the job market.
