It's not India, it's north-America.

They are not called Indians as the ignorant Europeans assumed, they were aboriginals, of North America, a place the Europeans didn't know existed.

As for agriculture, the aboriginals used agriculture to maintain a more constant supply of food. More food, easier living, more time and energy for improving their lifestyles. They stopped being nomads that traveled all over the place in search of food and settled down to form small villages/towns.

Less walking, hunting and gathering, more farming and fishing.
