When immigrants were leaving for America, they were happy and scared. Immigrants were scared because they left everything they knew and did not know what they were going to see in America. Immigrants were happy because they were going to a land of opportunity and a better life.
Nativists generally supported the Emergency Quota Act of 1921 because it significantly restricted immigration, particularly from Southern and Eastern Europe, which they viewed as a threat to American culture and values. They believed that limiting the number of immigrants would preserve the social fabric and economic opportunities for native-born Americans. The act reflected nativist sentiments by implementing a quota system based on national origins, favoring immigrants from Northern and Western Europe. Overall, nativists viewed the act as a victory in their efforts to curb immigration and promote a homogeneous American identity.
In scholarly studies "nativism" is a standard technical term. However, in public political discourse "nativist" is a term of opprobrium usually used by the opposition, and rarely by nativists themselves (they call themselves "patriots."). Anti-immigration is a more neutral term that may be used to characterize opponents of Immigration.Other words: They were completely and totally against it.
Nativists are people whom do not like and usually discriminate against immigrants. Therefore, they feel as if immigrants will not be able to truely assimilate into the new culture that they have arrived in, and will cause problems for society because of this.

A wave of Immigration inspired nativist politicians to pass laws forcing immigrants to pass a literacy test, and to create a QUOTA SYSTEM. In other words they were completely against immigrants.

Once the language barrier is breached, immigrants and the citizens of the receiving country almost always seem to get along a lot better. The language barrier causes communication problems. Communication problems lead to conflict.
WE can not answer your question because you have not told us which country the immigrants were coming to - what is the adopted country!
