How did people listen to music in 60s?

Not sure if you mean by Radio or playing the music back, but here goes.

In the 1960s they did have FM radio but it mostly was classical music or the "free-form" jazz. Some of the old "beat" poets would read their poems on FM radio too

The bigger cities had the AM "top-40" stations.

A big one in New York City was WINS 1010 AM featuring Alan Freed from Cleveland and Murray "the K" Kaufman.

WABC at 770 AM was in the 60s from New York too and it's signal reached from from Virgina to Canada at night.

Now as far as records for playing music that was pretty much it. the good old"45" because of 45 revolutions per minute of the record player was the record of the "Hits"

The LP "Long Playing" records were for the albums and most of songs were good but some would never be a "hit"

In 1967, the 8-track tape cartridge was invented. It was okay but there were lots of dead 8-tracks on the roads that the tape player in the car had "eaten".

The cassette came out in the late 60s or early 70s.
