Actually, even before the US Civil War, Native Tribes in the East, such as the Cheyennes forced march to Oklahoma, Later, due to the transcontinental railway that connected both the East & West coasts, more settlers were able to move west into Native lands. Also, the discovery of gold & silver brought even more Americans west. Treaties by the US government with many Native American nations eventually were broken and forced relocations of Natives into government reservations caused much conflict. The end result was the reduction of the American Tribes, and for the most part, their separation from mainstream America. The conflicts were deadly and ongoing for decades.
