It would be impossible to list all the attempts to get the nation out of the Great Depression on this format. Wiki has excellent articles about the Depression and the attempts of President FDR to tackle the economic problems. The First Hundred Days of FDR's administration saw the government create numerous agencies to help solve the problems. Some of the attempts that proved helpful were the TVA, Tennessee Valley Authority, that provided low cost electric power to southern states; the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps that took young men out of the cities and put them to work in rural areas building libraries, bridges, and doing conservation work. They had to send their pay back to their parents, thus creating more economic activity in the cities. The SEC was created to regulate the Stock Market and try and prevent some of the events, like buying on margin, that caused the crash. One of the most important things that the government did was to instill confidence in the American public that we would survive the Great Depression. FDR and his Fireside Chats on the radio had a calming effect on the nation. There were some radical attempts to solve the economic situation outside of government, like Huey Long and Father Coughlin, but for the most part, the American public stayed loyal to the democratic principles of our republic. Unfortunately, it took World War II to get the factories back in full swing and ease the unemployment situation.

How did the radio effect the depression?

The radio helped people to know the latest news concerning the national economic problems, listening to the weekly radio shows, and may have helped with the music they played to deter depression. Movie houses of the time also did the same things. Newsreels and movies helped people to know what the government was doing and make them forget their problems as they watched the movies.
