No not a word.
In 1774, there were two separate acts that closed Boston Harbor and that placed the government of Massachusetts under British control. These were two of the five Restraining Acts that were known alternately by the British as the Coercive Acts and by the American colonists as the Intolerable Acts.1 The Boston Port Act was introduced on March 18, 1774, and passed on June 1, 1774, to compel Boston to reimburse the East India Company for the tea that was destroyed during the Boston Tea Party.1, 2 The Massachusetts Government Act was passed on May 20, 1774, to punish Massachusetts for its "errant behavior," by limiting its self government.3
The term "Intolerable Acts" was coined by the American colonists in response to a series of punitive measures imposed by the British government in 1774. These acts, aimed at suppressing dissent following the Boston Tea Party, included the Boston Port Act and the Massachusetts Government Act, among others. The colonists viewed these laws as oppressive and unjust, which ultimately fueled their desire for independence. Thus, the name reflects their perspective on British actions rather than the British government's intention.
By proposing and signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The Massachusetts Government Act created even more outrage than the Port Act because it unilaterally altered the government of Massachusetts to bring it under control of the British government. Under the terms of the Government Act, almost all positions in the colonial government were to be appointed by the governor or the king. The act also severely limited the activities of town meetings in Massachusetts. Colonists outside Massachusetts feared that their governments could now also be changed by the legislative fiat of Parliament.
The colonists called them the Intolerable Acts.

One significant effect of the Massachusetts Government Act was the erosion of self-governance in the colony. The Act, part of the Intolerable Acts enacted by Britain in 1774, effectively disbanded the Massachusetts colonial assembly and replaced it with a governor appointed by the crown. This centralization of power heightened tensions between the colonists and the British government, ultimately contributing to the outbreak of the American Revolution as colonists sought to reclaim their rights and autonomy.
