US Military women were auxiliaries; WACs & WAVEs from WWII through the Vietnam War. Their mission was to support the American fighting man, and to relieve him of certain supportive functions so that he could fight the war. This was accomplished.

During the Vietnam War, WWII, etc. all US military women were either WACs, WAVES, or WAFs.
WACs & WAVEs did the same thing they did in WWII; supported the US fighting men. Primary functions were administrative and medical (nurses).
Approximately 7,527 US military females (nearly all nurses) served in Vietnam; 5,000 US Army; 2,000 US Air Force; 500 USN; and 27 USMC. Seven nurses were killed in accidents in Vietnam, and one nurse was killed during a communist rocket attack.
Women didn't fight in WW1, WW2, Korea or Vietnam; they were mostly NURSES. See Film & Television series MASH.

The Vietnam Womens Memorial is one of the three parts that make up the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; it is a statue consisting of two nurses (most women in the Vietnam War were nurses, making these nurses a symbol) and an injured man in one of the nurse's arms.

Women served in the WAVES & WACs during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. They were auxiliaries supporting the American Fighting Men. Their predominant duties were as medical nurses.
The ROKs (Republic of Korea) may not have employed women in Vietnam. If they did, they were, as most females were in Vietnam/Korea/WWII/WWI...etc. nurses. And a great majority of female nurses in Vietnam were officers; any US female enlisted personnel was rare to non-existent.
Same as WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam: Nurses & Administration.
