There is archeological evidence to support a historic "Trojan War" though if the events were linked to the stories, no one can say for sure yet. Records would have to be found on-site to link such into "reality".

Yes, I think so. Sometimes if you think about stuff too much, you start to lose the clarity of the event. You can easily imagine something that actually never even happened. Perhaps it happened to somebody else, or somebody else was talking about it and was there; and before you know it, you change your perception of what actually happened.
