In general, immigrants bring experience and knowledge that have helped build the country through every stage of its growth. First generation immigrants frequently move to areas where others from their country have settled -- such as the Italians, Irish in New York, Germans in Texas and Kansas, Swiss and Scandinavians to Minnesota and the Dakotas - find basic work, learn the language and move up the economic tree themselves or their children do. The US has been proud to be a melting pot of cultures. In current times, Immigration is more limited, so those with technical skills, family relationships, UN refugee status and other "ins" come. I am not sure that illegally present immigrants are a larger number now than before, but it seems that decisions regarding full public education, health care and other governmental supports will be important decisions that affect the future.

Answer
