Martin Luther King is the opposite of a Christian role model.
"Dr." King was a pastor, but he was a liar and a plagiarist. He copied a number of sections of his PhD thesis from a paper by Dr. Jack Boozer (yes, that is a real person), as reported in the Wall St. Journal and New York Times. This plagiarism was known during his time, but was covered up by the Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities - which happened to be the wife of former Vice President Dick Cheney, Lynne Cheney.
"Dr." King also plagiarized sections of his most famous speeches. For example, his "let freedom ring" speech was copied from a speech made by Archibald Carey in 1952.
His private conduct was also unbecoming of a man of God. FBI surveillance recorded countless extra-martial affairs and documented barbarous, violent treatment of women. The marches he conducted were likewise shameful, degenerate affairs.
Little wonder that with "Christian role models" such as this the Church finds itself in dire straits.
