A great deal of the world was coloured pink (Why pink I have no idea) and the sun never set on the British Empire. In Europe, apart from Britain itself there was only Malta & Gibraltar. Somewhere along the line the British had, and still do have, territory in Cyprus. Canada in North America & British Honduras (Now Belize) & British Guiana (Now Guyana) in Central & South America, and the Falkland Islands. In Asia there was the whole of the Indian subcontinent: Pakistan India Bangladesh & Sri Lanka; Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, & part of New Guinea, plus Australia & New Zealand. & in Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Malawi (then Nyasaland) North & South Rhodesia (Zambia & Zimbabwe) Betchuanaland, (now Botswana) & the Union of South Africa (including what is now Namibia) Nigeria, Ghana (the Gold Coast) and the Gambia and British Somaliland. The British also had commercial & military interests elsewhere( Egypt & the Sudan for example) & apologies to anywhere I have missed ! The only country which is now in the Commonwealth that was never a part of the Empire is Mozambique.
