If my memory serves me correct, in only lasted approximately 15 minutes because the Americans (Texians) attacked during siesta, a time when Mexicans were sleeping. Because of this, the Mexicans wer defeated in mere minutes. When all was said and done, the Americans captured Santa Anna and in return for his life, Anna gave us Americans Texas. However, it was not free. We had to pay over 10 million dollars for it. That treaty was called the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

The Battle of Santa Cruz de Rosales was preceded by a seven day siege and a two hour artillery exchange which General Sterling Price halted when he received a report of Mexican Cavalry approaching his rear. It proved unnecessary since it was only a few mounted stragglers which were quickly routed. Three storming parties advanced at about 1530 and by sundown General Angel Trias had surrendered. The elapsed time of the final assault was about two hours.
