Even if the Stock Market Crash of 1929 could be universally agreed upon as the beginning of the Great Depression in America, its ending is even more difficult to tack down as recovery was very gradual. Some may choose to regard the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 as the official ending of the Great Depression in the US. The economy was already much improved by then, but it was vastly and immediately pumped up by the shift to wartime production.
