During the Korean and Vietnam wars, injured soldiers benefitted from getting emergency care and soon became obvious. Then in the 1960s, the modern EMS system started changing and getting better. That was also the time when the President's Committee for Traffic Safety brought the need to reduce injuries and deaths related to highway crashes to the surface. So it started a long time ago and even today it is continuing to grow and get better and more efficient.
