The Romans ruled Spain for approximately six centuries, from the 2nd century BCE, following their victory in the Second Punic War, until the early 5th century CE, when the Western Roman Empire began to decline and succumb to various invasions. Spain, known as Hispania during Roman times, became an integral part of the empire, significantly influenced by Roman culture, governance, and infrastructure.

It is an extremely unfortunate and pathetic chapter of Islamic History. The Muslims in Spain were put to sword, forced to convert to Christianity or forced to flee from Spain. Within a short period Spain was cleared of the Muslims where the Jews and the Christians had been living in peace for many centuries under the Muslim rule.

YES. Typically, when someone talks about a group of people holding control over Spain for 700 years, they are referring to the MUSLIMS' RULE OVER SPAIN, which lasted roughly 750 years. However, the Ancient Greeks did actually maintain colonies on the Spanish coast for many centuries, especially in the area close to the modern day city of Valencia. When the local Iberians founded the city of Saguntum in the 500s B.C.E., they began to trade in large volumes with the pre-existing Greek colonies on the coast. These colonies remained Greek until Roman conquest several centuries later. While it may be overstated to say that the Greeks "held Spain" or did so for "700 years", the Greeks did maintain landholdings in Spain for many centuries.
Many Arabic place names in southern Spain are a result of the region's history of Islamic rule during the Middle Ages, when the Moors controlled the Iberian Peninsula. The Moors left a lasting impact on the region's culture, architecture, and place names. These Arabic names have been preserved over the centuries and are still used today.
