The Siege of Fort Pitt occurred prior to the American Revolution, and 100 years before the American Civil War. There were not a large number of casualties because the siege was relieved by Colonel Henry Bouquet after the Battle of Bushy Run. If one considers Bushy Run to be part of the siege, then the dead included about 60 Native Americans and 50 British and Americans, with 15 missing.

There is a fictional "Siege of Pittsburgh" that is the title and setting of a computer simulation set in 1868, after the Civil War. That incident is purely imaginary.

In Canada, a similar name is used: The Battle of Fort Pitt. In that battle, part of the Northwest Rebellion, First Nations (Cree Native American) people attacked a Royal Canadian Mounted Police outpost and drove the police out of their compound with one dead. This occurred in 1885. The officer in command was notable for his family name: Francis Dickens was son of the writer Charles Dickens.
