There's a difference between being JAILED and IMPRISONED. Jailed can be 24 hours. Not so prison...prison is 6 months to life! THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of men and women were jailed for protesting Vietnam from the 60's into the 70's. It could've been an "over nighter" in the can (jail) or for 12 months. For draft dodging men: 22,000 men were indicted for draft evasion. 8,800 men were convicted, and approximately 4,000 men were imprisoned.
