In the United States, a JD (Juris Doctor) is the degree that permits entry to the legal profession as a lawyer after the recipient has passed the state bar exam. A JD involves a three year law school program following the completion of a bachelor's degree program.
This is not to be confused with a JSD or SJD (Doctor of Juridical Science) which is the highest degree in law. It follows the first post-graduate degree to the JD, the LLM (Master of Laws) and takes an additional three to five years of preparation.

Depends what degrees you earn. In general it takes 2 years for a AS/AA, 4 years for BA/BS, 2 more years for a MA/MS, and 2 to 3 more years for a Ph.D. It all depends on the course your going to take and also depends on which college you attend. There are less than a year courses, one two three four five year courses as well. Check with registration at any college and they will give you the information you will need pertaining to any particular course.

Zero. You can't get a medical license without a medical degree. One hundred years ago or more, the erstwhile doctor would work for someone who practiced medicine, much as lawyers learned how to become lawyers. However, the information that doctors must learn has become more formalized as well as there being a need for the community to license practitioners.
To calculate how many years ago 500 BC was from 2016, you need to add the years before Christ (BC) to the years after Christ (AD). Since there is no year 0, you add 500 years (BC) to 2016 years (AD), resulting in a total of 2516 years ago.
