Savonarola began to preach to the people of Florence of his ideas and philosophy. He gained many followers and eventually built up enough support to overthrow the Medici Family. He then went on to appoint very famous Machiavelli to be his secretary.

Art wasn't exactly popular in Medieval times. It was the Renaissance when the Medici family donated tons of money to artists. Then art was everywhere. In Medieval times, however, the didn't really have much art. They had tapestries, but that's about it.

Michelangelo Buonaroti lived in his parents' house in Florence. After the death of his mother when he was seven years old, Michelangelo lived with a stonecutter and his wife and family in the town of Settignano. When very young he was allowed to take part in sculptor training, and there he was noticed by Lorenzo "il Magnifico" dei Medici. Lorenzo then let young Michelangelo come and go in Lorenzo's home much as he pleased. He did not move into that house, though.
