In Elizabethan times, society was sharply divided between the rich and the poor, with distinct differences in treatment and opportunities. The wealthy enjoyed luxurious lifestyles, access to education, and political power, often living in grand homes and participating in courtly activities. In contrast, the poor faced harsh realities, with limited access to basic necessities, education, and healthcare, often depending on charity or workhouses for survival. Social status was rigid, and the poor were frequently stigmatized, viewed as morally deficient or lazy, which further marginalized them in society.

Other common causes of death included smallpox, typhus, and respiratory infections, exacerbated by poor sanitation and limited medical knowledge. People never washed their hands, rarely ever took a bath and didn't brush their teeth or their hair. Living conditions during Elizabethan times were very poor which led to many diseases and death.
