1st: Peninsulares- born in Spain, only ones eligible for high office
2nd: Creoles- people of spanish heritage born in Latin America. Not eligible for high office in government, although were in military
3rd: Mestizos- people of mixed European and Native American ancestry
4th: Mulattos- People of mixed European and African ancestry
5th: Africans- enslaved people
6th: Native Americans- Native peoples. Listed under Slaves because at the time they were still a strong society and therefore a larger problem than the slaves.
