the fighting started at Lexington and ended in Concord Massachusetts
Fighting broke out at Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775, as tensions escalated between British troops and American colonists. The British aimed to seize colonial military supplies stored in Concord and arrest revolutionary leaders. The confrontation at Lexington marked the first violent clash, with colonial militias resisting British advances, leading to a full-scale battle as the British retreated from Concord. This event is often considered the starting point of the American Revolutionary War.
The Battle of Bunker Hill (17 June 1775) was the first American victory of the British. While others claim Concord (the 'Shot heard 'round the world) as the first; Concord was only a skirmish; Bunker Hill was a full-scale battle in which American forces drove the British Regular Army troops off the hill three times before they ran short of musket shot, cannon balls, and gunpowder, and had to evacuate the hill.
Some colonists were throwing snowballs with sticks in them at the soldiers. One of the soldiers slipped and accidentally fired his gun. In confusion the other soldiers began to shoot at the colonists and killed 5 and injured 6.
This was the Boston Massacre. It happened on March 5, 1770, in Boston, Massachusetts. British soldiers killed 5 civilians, and injured 6 others. British troops had been stationed in Boston to enforce unpopular Parliamentary legislation. A mob formed around some British soldiers, and in response, they fired into the crowd, instantly killing 3 people and wounding others. 2 more people died later of wounds sustained in the incident.

The British troops moved on Lexington and Concord in an attempt to seize a reported arms cache, and to attempt the capture of John Hancock and Samuel Adams. The information obtained by the British concerning the existence of the arms and the whereabouts of Hancock and Adams was good, but the two patriots were warned of the British movement by Paul Revere, and the colonials chose to stand and fight rather than retire, thus starting the war for American Independence.
