By executive order of President Harry S. Truman the U.S. dropped the nuclear weapon "Little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima on Monday, August 6, 1945, followed by the detonation of "Fat Man" over Nagasaki on August 9. These are the only attacks with nuclear weapons in the history of warfare.
Two nuclear weapons were used -- the Little Boy, a gun-type uranium-fueled nuclear weapon that was deployed against Hiroshima on Monday, August 6, 1945. The second was the Fat Man, an implosion-type plutonium-fueled nuclear weapon deployed against Nagasaki on Thursday, August 9, 1945.
In 1945 the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan. The first was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, and the second was dropped on Nagasaki on August 9. They are the only two instances of a nuclear attack in human history.
The ONLY nuclear device(s) ever used in a world war was the Hiroshima & Nagasaki atomic bombs that were dropped in August of 1945, ending WWII. Nuclear powered naval ships were used in a number of other conflicts, but not nuclear weapons.
On August 6 and 9, 1945; nuclear bombs were dropped in Japan's Hiroshima and Nagasaki cities. Most people has seen the pictures. Remembering the ill effects of the blasts created in those dates, could be a good source to create awareness.
