I can get this answer for you after I speak with some older family members. My uncle, Grandpa Buster's last child recently died. I have other family members that I can ask.

Arrived in New Orleans as a hitchhiking 19 year old from Miami Beach in January 1980 for Mardi Gras in February. Was told about Buster's my second day in 'Nawlins and would eat there many, many times.

If I recall, the chicken with red beans and rice was 2.50 a plate with a Barq's root beer. Great eats! I remember seeing Buster there a few times. I was told that Buster's opened in the mid 50's and closed in late '81. I moved away in '82 and I'm fortunate that I got to experience Buster's with it's great food, cool Motown jukebox and of course, the awesome people that made the atmosphere so memorable.
