A lot of sites say different things but after looking into it and finding a reliable source who's other information on the 13 colonies was correct I can say that it was John Mason. He sent colonist over to found New Hampshire and it was named after his home town. John Wheelwright founded a colony in New Hampshire not New Hampshire it's self.
