Short answer: wet.

Long answer: The northwest coast region is largely confined between the Pacific Ocean and the mountains of the interior; much of this area is covered with Pacific temperate rainforest that includes giant redwoods, cedar and lowland oak. Lichens and Spanish moss thrive and give the trees a weird, spooky appearance.

Rainfall is much higher than in most other regions - in western Oregon the average annual rainfall is close to 200 inches.
