the USSR .
A Cold War veteran refers to a military service member who served during the Cold War period, which is generally considered to have lasted from the end of World War II in 1947 until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. These veterans may have been involved in various conflicts, operations, or missions that were part of the geopolitical tensions between the United States and its allies against the Soviet Union and its allies. Their service often included activities related to espionage, military readiness, and supporting allied nations.

The Cold War.

The two sides involved in the Cold War were the United States and its allies, known as the Western Bloc, and the Soviet Union and its allies, known as the Eastern Bloc. These two sides represented the ideological divide between capitalism and communism, respectively, and were engaged in a geopolitical and ideological struggle for influence and power.
Eastern Bloc
It was called the Cold War over communism versus democracy.
Tension was the cold war. The allies were always preparing (on patrol and on manuevers) during the cold war.
Cold War
They are called ectotherms.
The primary Western countries involved in the Cold War were the United States and its NATO allies, which included the United Kingdom, France, Canada, West Germany, Italy, and several other Western European nations. These countries opposed the Soviet Union and its Eastern Bloc allies, promoting a capitalist and democratic ideology. The Cold War also saw involvement from Australia and Japan, among others, as they aligned with the U.S. against communist expansion.
Relations between the United States and its NATO allies and the Soviet Union and its allies during the period 1946 - 1989 were often called "the Cold War" because of the continually adversarial nature of these relations in the absence of actual armed conflict.
The Cold War was between the US (and its allies) against the Soviet Union (and its allies). It started in 1945, immediately after WWII. This is because at the end of WWII, the US and Soviet Union proved to be the only two world powers, and the Cold War was a "war" to see who would come out the most powerful. The United States won the "war" in 1991.
