Yes, he was. He was against what Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were doing-even to the Jews in Europe. If his plan of assassinating Hitler did succeed, then he would make peace with America and England. The SS and Gestapo would be arrested and forced to surrender. And the concentration camps will be shut down, and the SS who runs them will be arrested and shot (for resisting). And all the prisoners held there will be free and there would be no deportions for the Jews. No more rules by the Nazis all over Europe. Which sadly-even though he never expected it-the assassination didn't work.
