Mostly not. Although, some people think that his explorations would provide nothing, like a wild goose chase. The water game Marco Polo was named after him because people though it resembled his life. Blindly stumbling about trying to find something. But, this does not mean that he was a failure. As a matter of fact, he brought back from China to Italy the concept of noodles. He aslo brought back ivory, porcelain, jade jewels, and silk.
