If we are speaking about the famous speech given by Martin Luther King Jr. on the mall lake in Washington DC, then I believe it was the speech people know as the "I Have a Dream" speech. In that speech, Luther's message was persuasive because it was meant to improve every person's status in America. The speech was not designed to point out how Afro Americans were treated. The speech was persuasive because of the phrase, (I'll paraphrase here) " That I dream of a day where the abilities of people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the character of their hearts and minds".In this manner he was not pushing for an agenda only for Blacks, but for all people. Few could disagree with such a statement.
A persuasive speech is a type of speech that aims to convince the audience to adopt the speaker's point of view or take a specific action. It involves presenting strong arguments, supporting evidence, and persuasive language to influence the audience's beliefs or behaviors. The goal is to sway the audience's opinion and inspire them to act in a particular way.

Yes.
The very first thing to do is to decide what you are going to write the speech about. It is very difficult to be persuasive when you cannot even be decisive enough to pick a topic to be persuasive about! It is certainly not convincing.
There are three types of persuasive speeches: 1) a persuasive speech on a factual matter, 2) a persuasive speech on an axiological matter (a matter of value) 3) a persuasive speech on a matter of policy.
