Well yes Nationalism was part of what caused WW1 but not the big reason. The bigger reason was the formation of pacts and alliances. These alliances said that if one country were to go to war with another, all countries in that alliance would fight with them. This idea was a big mistake because once 2 small countries started fighting, the whole world became entangled in war. WW2 is more closely related to Nationalism than WW1.
