The primary reason behind the institution of slavery taking hold in the American colonies during the 17th and early 18th centuries was the demand for labor-intensive agricultural production, particularly in cash crops like tobacco, sugar, and later cotton. European settlers sought a reliable and cheap labor source, leading to the importation of enslaved Africans as a solution to labor shortages. The profitability of slavery became entrenched in the colonial economy, further perpetuating the system and justifying its expansion. Additionally, legal frameworks and societal norms developed to support and sustain slavery as an institution.

Independence Day. It's an anniversary of that date in July 4, 1776, when the original 13 colonies declared their independence from England and formed the United States of America. The colonies had to win the War first, before they actually got their independence. Slavery and harsh treatment of the Native Americans was still practised in the newly formed USA.

No one "granted' independence to the colonies. They declared it, and fought for it. It was taken by force. That was the whole driver behind the Revolutionary war.
Religious/moral, economic, and political reasons. Slavery was an entrenched economic institution in Britain when the English colonies were founded, and that tradition was brought to America with the colonialists. Most northern colonies eventually abolished slavery in part because there was tight competition for labor and free white men did not want to have to compete with slave labor for jobs. (This premise would also become a motivator for the nation-wide abolition of slavery as advocated by Northern states.) The religious movement for abolition was also rooted in the North, particularly among the Quakers of Pennsylvania, and so the abolitionist movement caught on in the North first. The Southern agrarian states were more dependant on slave labor, and they feared its abolition would destroy their economies. But one of the main ideological premises behind the Revolution was that all men were created equal. It became very difficult to ignore the hypocrisy of founding a nation on this premise while allowing slavery to persist in the new nation. Even some slave owners recognized this fact. Thomas Jefferson, himself a slave owner, was one of the most outspoken abolitionists of the Revolutionary era. He wished to abolish slavery throughout the South so that he could free his own slaves without being at an economic disadvantage against other slave-owning plantations. However, abolition did not come to be during Jefferson's lifetime, and only upon his death in 1826 did he free his slaves in his will.

One motivation behind Great Britain's involvement in the Haitian Revolution was its desire to undermine French colonial power in the Caribbean. By supporting the enslaved population's fight for freedom, Britain aimed to weaken France, a rival colonial power, and potentially gain access to valuable sugar and other resources in the region. Additionally, the British were interested in the broader implications of the revolution, as it challenged the institution of slavery and could inspire similar movements in their own colonies.
